Ireland: Three Arrested in Human Trafficking and Labour Exploitation

Dublin: Three individuals have been apprehended in Cork in connection with a case involving human trafficking and labor exploitation. Suspected to be affiliated with an Irish-based organised crime group (OCG) with ties to Eastern Europe, they are believed to have facilitated the transportation of individuals to Ireland. The arrests were made as part of a collaborative investigation between the Garda and Europol.

The detained individuals, aged between 30 and 40, are currently held in custody at Garda stations in Cork. The operation, spearheaded by 100 Gardaí from the Divisional Protective Service Unit in Cork, involved raids on five locations in Cork and two in Roscommon.

The Gardai have issued an appeal to the public, urging anyone with information regarding human trafficking or labour exploitation to come forward. They can reach out to Garda Síochána, their local Garda station, at 1800 666 111, or utilise the Garda Confidential Line.

Given the vulnerability of victims in such cases, it’s crucial for individuals with any knowledge of these abhorrent crimes to share it.
