Irish people can nominate the top midwifes and nurses for a cash award

WaterWipes is launching the first Pure Foundation Fund to acknowledge the excellence of the best midwives and nurses in Ireland. They are urging the public to nominate the best midwives and nurses for the cash award.

The initiative is being spearheaded by the Water Wipes, Irish Nurses & Midwives Organisation (INMO) and the Irish Neonatal Health Alliance (INHA).

The incredible role of midwives and those nurses involved in pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey will be recognised in this new bursary scheme.

INMO General Secretary Phil Ni Sheaghdha said it is an appropriate time to acknowledge the contributions of midwives and nurses to their service throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have seen extraordinary commitment from these healthcare professionals recently, as they continue to provide outstanding and vital care to women and their babies, in the most difficult circumstances,” Ni Sheaghdha said.

The nominations are now open for the inaugural bursary on waterwipes.com. It can be submitted by new or expectant parents, healthcare colleagues or through self-nomination.

Two outstanding midwives will be awarded the fund worth € 5,000 which is also applicable to nurses specifically involved in all aspects of baby and infant care. Each winner will receive €2,500 for their department to advance the care of parents and babies through a range of options including purchase of equipment, resources for parents, training, improve practice / care or support further research relating to pregnancy, baby care and neonatal care.

For the first award, WaterWipes is calling on midwives and nurses to tell their stories of how they have gone above and beyond or been inspired by the dedication of a colleague or a team of colleagues.

The second award invites new or expectant parents to nominate a midwife or nurse who provided outstanding care and support during their personal pre or post-pregnancy journey.

The parent or expectant parent who nominates the winning midwife or nurse will receive a 6 month supply of WaterWipes.
