Mandatory hotel quarantine: Cabinet Minister opposes government’s stance

DUBLIN: Minister of Higher Education Simon Harris has expressed his displeasure with the country’s mandatory hotel quarantine. Simon Harris opined that forcing hotel quarantine on those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and have a negative PCR test result is illogical.

Speaking to RTÉ Radio One’s Today with Claire Byrne, Simon Harris said that the mandatory hotel quarantine was an illogical and ineffective intervention and that the government would not continue it forever.

The minister also said that the government would pay for hotel quarantine for those attending Erasmus, an exchange program for European students who will be subject to hotel quarantine upon their return to Ireland.
