Olympic champ Kellie Harrington will get back to hospital job this weekend

DUBLIN: Olympic champion Kellie Harrington has said that she will return to her job at St Vincent’s Hospital this weekend.

Ireland’s hero won a gold medal in lightweight boxing at the Tokyo Olympics after defeating Brazil’s Beatriz Ferrera on August 8. When Harrington returned from Tokyo, she was greeted warmly by the people of Ireland. She and the rest of the Irish Olympians toured Dublin’s north inner city on an open-top bus.

Harrington worked full-time as a cleaner at St Vincent’s Hospital in Fairview, north Dublin. The 31-year-old likes to stay grounded and will return to work even though she is still in the hangover of success.

Harrington loved her job and used her free time to cheer up patients and staff. Before leaving for Tokyo, the boxer said that she will be returning to work in the hospital, and it is clear that she will keep her word.

Harrington said that she is determined to “keep her fight on the ground” after winning the gold medal and will return to the hospital on Saturday.

Compliments flowed to Kelly Harrington for her golden achievement. The proud staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital also congratulated her in a statement earlier this month.

“All of us at St Vincent’s Hospital Fairview offer a big congratulations to Kellie Harrington on winning a gold medal this morning at the Tokyo Olympic Games. She was an inspiration to all of us throughout this Olympic Games; getting to an Olympic final and taking home a gold medal is a remarkable achievement,” it said.
