Penneys appointment slot are being sold online!

DUBLIN: Crowds flocked to Penneys stores as they opened for those who had made appointments. Supermarkets and shops, including Penneys, will be officially reopened from May 17.

The facility for advance appointments has been introduced to ease the rush. However, there was a huge rush to make their slot, with queues stretching down streets. Seeing the rush, some people tried to benefit from it by selling the slots. They were selling slot tickets through social media platforms such as on Facebook Marketplace and DoneDeal.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘People selling Penneys [appointments] as if they’re concert tickets.’ Another user tweeted: ‘People are selling Penneys appointments on DoneDeal. I’m done [myself].’

After noticing the selling of slots, a Penneys spokesperson said: “We are delighted at how popular our shopping by appointment bookings this week have proven with over 250,000 appointments made so far.”

“While most of our larger stores are now fully booked, any cancelled slots will go back up on the system. We recommend that customers book their appointments through our website directly which we know is the case for the vast majority of bookings.

“It’s been wonderful to be able to welcome so many customers back this week, and for those who missed out on a slot, they won’t have too much longer to wait as all Irish stores will be open to everyone from next Monday, May 17, with extended hours in each store.”
