People got upset as the COVID tracker consumes 159% of their Android phone batteries

As the Covid-19 virus is taking a world tour, marking their presence in all nook and corners of the world, the people and the government of the Republic are trying their level best to reduce its spread and to lower down the causalities.

As the virus has the capability of spreading within a close contact it was very much needed to develop an accurate tracking system. Thus, the HSE was able to develop an application suitable for functioning in mobile phones.

COVID tracking app was launched with an aim to track the Covid-19 patient’s recent contacts and there by notify them to take prequestionnaire measures.

The application was launched on July 7, 2020 and till the time around 1.5 million people have downloaded the app.

A lot of users had raised their voice against the as it was draining the battery quickly. Recently the HSE has confirmed that there is a problem with the application and they are trying to fix it.

The android users used the social media platform to show their disagreement. The fully charged battery was drained out to just 7% within hours.

The improper functioning of the application made the battery backup down and also made the phone slow to charge. The quick disposal of charge makes a quick rise of temperature as well.

The HSE has apologized to the android users via twitter. They were also talking with Google to fix the problems with the COVID tracker application.

HSE said that they are sorry to anyone who meet with an issue and they have identified the problem; along with google they are trying to solve the problem as soon as possible.

The HSE’s words were backed up by google as one of their spokespersons made it clear to the public that they are working hand in hand to fix the issue.

‘We’re aware of reports that some Android users of Ireland’s Exposure Notifications app are experiencing an issue with the battery life of their phones,’ they said.

At the same time HSE also confirms that the app was benefited to track and notify the contacts of 58 people who were tested positive for Covid-19.

The contact tracing alert was send to 137 people and out of this, 129 people reported contacted the HSE for expert advise  about the further proceedings.
