Releases four new models; Apple’s 5G iPhone 12 will hit the market on October 13th

DUBLIN: Apple’s 5G iPhone 12 will hit the market on October 13th. Apple will launch the phone next Tuesday at 6pm via an online event. Apple is expected to announce four new iPhone 12 handsets. This is the first time so many models have been announced in a single launch.

There will be two ‘Basic’ iPhone 12 models with 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch screens, and two iPhone 12 Pro models with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. The iPhone 12 Pro is the largest iPhone ever made by Apple. It is the same size as Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20.

Screens

It will have high-end Oled screens, rather than the LCD displays of the current iPhone 11, iPhone SE and iPhone Xr.

5G

Both of the ‘Pro’ models are certain to have 5G included. Basic models also have a ‘Reset’ button for 5G take-up to include it. This is an innovative technology.

Cameras

The camera will be similar to the Lidar cameras in the current iPod Pro models and will be seen in all models, including the ‘Pro’ versions. These models will also have augmented reality applications. But since these are not yet in the public imagination, it is not clear whether people will consider this a feature.

All models have a new body design. Apple is expected to take the ‘flat sides’ aesthetic from the iPad Pro for the two ‘Pro’ models. They are designed to be similar to older iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and older SE models.

But there is a disappointment waiting for phone buyers. There will be no Apple charger or earphones in the box with the phone. The company will try to present and justify this in an environmental context. The company claims that everyone will have a lot of chargers and no need to just make e-waste. But there are also critics who say Apple is making a profit out of this.
