TDs and senators criticise the location of vaccine centres

DUBLIN: The TDs and senators were critical of the locations of 37 mass vaccination centres announced earlier this week by Health Minister Stephen Donnelly.

TD Fergus O’Dowd said there was no vaccination centre in Drogheda, Co Louth.

Junior minister Patrick O’Donovan said there is no vaccine centre in his Limerick constituency. Mr. O’Donovan said some Limerick residents would have to travel 100 miles to be vaccinated. He added that Wicklow has two centres that are 25 miles apart.

Another Limerick TD Kieran O’Donnell said that there are five mass vaccination centres in Cork.

Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon said the health minister had allowed vaccination centers without a sense of reality. TD pointed out that Galway has only one centre for every 260,000 people, while Westmeath has one centre for every 45,000 people.
