Thousands of homes in Dublin are without drinking water, Repairs are underway……

Dublin: Irish Water is continuing to restore water supplies to thousands of homes after a burst water main in Dublin city and surrounding areas.

According to the water authority, dedicated water service crews are on-site for repairs, and “every effort is being made to minimise disruption to homes and businesses and restore normal water supplies as quickly as possible.”

Irish Water stated in a press release that services are expected to resume at 10 a.m. following repairs. “It may take several hours for normal water supply to be restored to all customers” in high-elevation areas.

The following areas may result in reduced water pressure and/or water interruptions until work is completed:

Dolphins Barn
Harold’s Cross
Kilmainham
Fleet Street
Brunswick Street
The Liberties
Gardener Street
Dorset Street
Drumcondra
Whitehall
Artane
coolock
Beaumont
Fairview
Raheny
Clontarf
Killester
Home Farm
Surrounding Areas

Typically, it takes two to three hours after the restoration time to refill the networks and fully restore normal supply.

Irish Water reminded customers to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption.

“Repairs are being carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to homes and businesses and restore water to all customers,” said Joe O’Reilly of Irish Water.
