Dublin: The Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) has deported 63 individuals, including nine children, to South Africa following a directive issued by the Minister for Justice.
Among those removed was the Oyekanmi family, whose deportation had sparked local protests. Last month, approximately 300 demonstrators gathered outside the Department of Justice calling for the revocation of the deportation order against Titilayo Oluwakemi Oyekanmi and her three sons.
According to official sources, those deported on the chartered flight from Dublin included 28 men and 26 women. Authorities confirmed that ten of the individuals had previous criminal convictions in Ireland.
The group arrived in South Africa on a specially arranged charter service as part of the enforcement operation.
