Tipperary produced a sensational second-half performance to win their 29th All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, overpowering Cork at Croke Park with a commanding 21-point turnaround.
Despite trailing by six at half-time, Liam Cahill’s men dominated the second period, outscoring Cork 3-18 to 0-2. Darragh McCarthy starred with 1-13, including a penalty goal, while John McGrath struck twice, as Tipperary ended a five-year wait for All-Ireland glory.
Cork had the edge early on and led 1-13 to 0-10 at the break, thanks to Shane Barrett’s goal. But Tipperary surged after the restart, with Cork fading badly—scoring just two points in the second half and suffering a major blow when Eoin Downey was sent off.
Goals from McGrath and McCarthy sealed the win, with Rhys Shelly saving a late penalty and even scoring a point himself. Cork’s wait for a title since 2005 continues, as Tipperary reclaimed their place at the top of hurling.
