Vaccinated people began to receive EU Digital Covid certs; Millions of people will get their certs by next week

DUBLIN: People who have been fully vaccinated in Ireland began receiving their EU Digital COVID Certificates from yesterday. Those who were vaccinated by a GP, pharmacy, or hospital will receive their certificate in the post. Some 1,50,000 certs were delivered by post yesterday, with similar numbers of certs being posted each day. Almost a million of these are being issued, and the Department of Health expects to complete the delivery by next Tuesday, July 20.

Meanwhile, the Health Department announced today that another million COVID Certificates are being issued by email to people who were fully vaccinated via the HSE portal. These one million certs are expected to be delivered by Thursday. The department said that issuing certs by email is easier, but warned about spam filters on email systems.

People who have recovered from COVID-19 will need to contact a national call centre to obtain their certificate. The details of that call centre, which will be managed by the Department of Health, have yet to be released.

Tourism Minister Catherine Martin said that the national call center would be established to answer public inquiries about the EU Digital COVID Certificate. Minister Martin told RTÉ’s Morning Ireland that the call centre will be open today only for emergency calls and would be fully operational by Monday, July 19th.
