AstraZeneca posse a winning formula against Covid, claims chief executive

Pascal Soriot, the company’s chief executive for British drugs group AstraZeneca said that the Covid vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford has achieved a winning formula regarding efficacy.

At present, the vaccine is evaluated by Britain’s independent medicines regulator.

In an interview with the Sunday Times Pascal Soriot said that the vaccine provides 100% protection against Covid disease.

He also added that he believes trials will show his firm has achieved a vaccine efficacy equal to Pfizer-BioNTech at 95% and Moderna at 94.5%.

“We think we have figured out the winning formula and how to get efficacy that, after two doses, is up there with everybody else,” he said.

Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine developers had submitted their data to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for approval for a mass roll-out and this was confirmed by the UK government on December 23.

As per the reports the approval will be given tomorrow.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was the first coronavirus vaccine to be authorised for use by the UK’s independent medicines regulator and it has been given to many people since last month.
