A fine of 1000 euros will be imposed on those who refuse to leave the house party

The Garda have stepped in to curb the rising house parties in the face of Covid restrictions.

The new decision is to impose a fine of 1,000 euros on those who refuse to leave house parties. Those who organize parties will be fined the same amount for the first time.

Anyone who violates the ban and attends for a third party, then they will be fined 2,500 euros or imprisoned for six months.

Jim Mulligan, president of the Garda Representative Association (GRA), said the move would only be handed out as a last resort.

He says the new legislation, which imposes heavy fines, is due to the irresponsible attitude of the people even when Covid is on the rise.

Garda wants to advise people first, and then they will take drastic action if they realizes that advice has nothing to do with it.

Therefore, the Garda urges the people not to get punished.
