Death of delivery cyclist, teenager taken into custody

In connection with the unusual death of Thiago Cortes, a teenager has been taken into custody.

Thiago Cortes (28) was a Deliveroo cyclist and was killed in a hit and run incident in Dublin. The heinous incident happened on 31 August, 2020 in the North Wall Quay area of Dublin. He was taken to the hospital in a serious condition and was reported dead at Mater Hospital on 2 September.

In relation to the case, the Gardai arrested a teenager as suspect and is currently detained in Store Street Garda Station. He was taken into custody under section 4 of Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The Garda also said that further investigations are under process.
