Two Dublin beaches closed due to high levels of bacteria in bathing waters

DUBLIN: Two beaches in south Dublin are closed until further notice due to bacterial contamination of bathing water. Bathing prohibition warnings were issued at Killiney Beach and White Rock Beach yesterday.

People were advised not to swim at these beaches by the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council as excessive amounts of bacteria were found in the water.

The county council said that they are monitoring the situation and communicating with all stakeholders in order to reopen by the end of the week at the earliest.

The council said that updates will be posted on its website, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s social media outlets, and each of the designated bathing areas.

It further said that an additional sample and testing of the bathing water is being performed, and that the results will be posted on www.beaches.ie.
