Covid spreads among young people in Ireland; Student shares experience of facing death

The Covid-19 pandemic situation in Ireland is getting worse each day and now it has been found that the disease is spreading amongst youngsters too.

It is reported that one-third of the Covid cases confirmed in Ireland in the last two weeks are among youngsters. Reports says that the outbreaks appear to be in a high rate amongst youngsters with an age of 24 and lesser.

According to the latest figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Center (HPSC), about 1,000 people between the ages of 15 and 24 have been diagnosed with the Covid-19.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old student in Cork, who was diagnosed with the disease two weeks ago, shared his experience in between life and death on Twitter.

“I was convinced I was on my death bed. I’m 20 years old. Stuff like that isn’t supposed to happen to a 20 year,” Ben Quigley tweeted.

Prime Minister Michael Martin appreciated Quigley for sharing his “scary” experience.

He urged the youth to pay close attention to the experiences of covid victims and be extremely vigilant.

The latest figures from HPSC indicate that the average age of covid infected people is now 32.

In the past two weeks, covid has confirmed 114 children under the age of four, and 325 children between the ages of five and 14.

At present there are about 108 covid patients at different hospitals of Ireland and out of this 17 are admitted in ICU.
