Met Éireann Predicts Challenging Halloween Weekend with Unsettled Weather

This Halloween bank holiday weekend is set to be a rather unsettling one, as Met Éireann forecasts rain, thunderstorms, and the potential for spot flooding. The next few days promise an overall unsettled weather pattern, with rain and showers expected to impact much of the country.

Today’s weather will feature a mix of sunshine and showers, with rain initially affecting counties along the south and east coasts in the morning. However, as the day progresses, these showers will spread across the nation, potentially bringing heavy downpours and the risk of spot flooding. Temperatures on Friday are anticipated to range from 11 to 14 degrees Celsius. Friday night will remain wet, with a chance of thundery downpours and overnight temperatures ranging from six to 10 degrees Celsius.

Saturday morning will commence with a blend of sunny spells and showers, but as the day advances, rain is expected to become heavy in some areas, accompanied by thunderstorms and the risk of spot flooding. Showers will persist throughout the day, and temperatures are forecasted to reach 11 to 14 degrees.

Rainy conditions will persist into Saturday night, with the lowest overnight temperatures between four and nine degrees. The Dublin Marathon on Sunday will likely begin under wet and cloudy conditions, although the rain is expected to clear gradually, leaving behind showers and intermittent sunny spells. Sunday will be slightly cooler, with temperatures ranging from nine to 13 degrees Celsius.

Bank Holiday Monday’s weather will feature a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers across the country. The northern regions may experience more prolonged periods of rain, with some areas encountering heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, possibly leading to spot flooding. The highest temperatures on this day will be between 10 and 13 degrees.

Halloween promises to be damp, with fog in the morning and rain persisting throughout the day, including during peak trick-or-treat hours. Met Éireann suggests, “A foggy start to the morning for many with some showers or longer spells of rain, especially in the north. Rain will move into the southwest towards the early afternoon, tracking northeastwards through the rest of the day. high temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.”
