Overcrowding crisis likely to continue…… Government and HSE act as spectators

Dublin: Across the country, people are protesting on the streets to demand that Ireland’s healthcare system be resolved. Due to the large number of patients, several hospitals are in crisis. In many places, treatment is not available, even in the ED department. Many people are crossing the border in search of medical assistance.

OP has even been discontinued in some areas. In this situation, neither the government nor the HSE are willing to intervene and take action. Protests are being held in various parts of the country in opposition to this. Thousands of people are lining up at each event. People have come forward to protest in Cork, Galway, Cavan, Donegal, Sligo, and Westmeath with a strong warning to the government and the Health Service Executive.

The march through Limerick city centre drew a large crowd, demanding that the problems at Limerick University Hospital be resolved.
The Mid West Hospital Campaign, Friends of Ennis Hospital, and Nenagh from Tipperary organised the protest in Limerick. The event was attended by over 10,000 people. Protesters also displayed photographs of those who died as a result of the Limerick Hospital crisis.

Protest marches and demonstrations were held in a number of locations, including Navan, in addition to Limerick. Protesters demanded that hospital emergency departments be expanded and that cuts to other departments be stopped.

Protesters also demanded that the decision to cut 24-hour services at Ennis, Nenagh, and St. John’s hospitals be reversed.

Sinn Féin TD Johnny Gurke said people were concerned by the events in Limerick and said the same should not happen here.
