Cara Partners Announces €130 Million Investment and Workforce Expansion at Cork Facility

Dublin: Cara Partners, a major pharmaceutical manufacturer and member of the Germany-based Schwabe Group, has announced a €130 million investment to enhance its Little Island facility in Cork. This expansion, supported by IDA Ireland, will result in the creation of 60 new highly skilled jobs over the next four years, including positions in management, production, and IT.

Established in East Cork in 1978, Cara Partners specialises in the extraction of Ginkgo Biloba, a key active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). The new investment will facilitate the production of 15 additional API products and the modernisation of an existing product line. Dr. Frank Waimer, COO of the Schwabe Group, noted that this investment will position Cara Partners as a global centre of excellence within the Schwabe Group.

Michael McGrath, Ireland’s nominee for European Commissioner, praised the expansion, highlighting Cork and the south-west region as attractive locations for business growth. This announcement follows a trend of significant investments in Cork, including Motorola Solutions and Infineon Technologies, both of which have recently expanded their operations in the region.
