Central and Eastern Europe Brace for More Severe Weather After Record Rainfall Triggers Widespread Flooding and Evacuations..

Central and eastern Europe are on high alert following record rainfall that has caused severe flooding in several countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Romania. Thousands have been evacuated, homes have been damaged, and power outages have affected many areas.

In the Czech Republic, 51,000 households are without electricity, and flood barriers have been erected in Prague. Romania’s Galati region is among the worst-hit, with 5,000 homes damaged and 15,000 people without power.

In Poland, rivers have overflowed, prompting army assistance, and Austria has declared disaster areas near Vienna. More heavy rain is forecast across the region.
