HSE launched close-contact portal for COVID-19 confirmed people to register their close contacts

DUBLIN: The Health Service Executive has developed an online portal for those who have tested positive for COVID-19 to list their close contacts.

Another method for the HSE to track down the close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases went live yesterday. At the moment, people are called over the phone.

When a person is notified that they are COVID-19 positive after testing, the HSE will send a text message with a link to the close-contact portal.

People can register their close contacts by clicking on this link, and the HSE’s test and trace team will contact and notify those who have been listed on the portal. If a person does not list their contacts, the HSE will contact them as normal.

Niamh O’Beirne, the HSE’s National Lead for Testing and Tracing, said: “We are asking COVID positive patients to click the link and list their close contacts. We will then text their contacts so they know. This enables faster tracing.”

Damien McCallion, the HSE lead on the vaccine rollout programme, said that the portal aims to speed up the contact tracing process and give another channel for people to identify their contacts.
