International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict – November 6, 2022

Every year on November 6, the International Day for the Prevention of Environmental Exploitation in War and Armed Conflict is marked.

Establishment of the Holiday, On 2001 the U.N. General Assembly declares November 6 the annual International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict.

War invariably causes suffering for humanity. There are deaths and injuries. Cities have been completely destroyed. What about the environment, though? Polluted rivers, oceans, and wells. Crops are burned, and woods are destroyed. The soil has been poisoned. The natural environment around us impacts and is impacted by humans, including other living species, weather, climate, and natural resources.

As a result, this day was established to safeguard the environment as a guarantor of security and peace, as well as to avoid its exploitation in armed conflicts. We are all encouraged to stand up and reconfirm our commitment to defending our threatened planet, even in the face of armed attack.

what is the link between climate change and conflict ?
