Ireland Braces for Possible Snowfall Within Days: Weather Experts Identifies..

Ireland may face another bout of snow in the coming days, with weather experts identifying 12 counties at risk of fresh snowfall. However, the extent of snowfall is not expected to match the significant disruption experienced in early March. The snow is likely to affect higher ground and hills in the north, west, and parts of Leinster late on Friday and into Saturday.

While Met Éireann has not issued any alerts yet, temperatures are forecasted to drop close to freezing overnight during the cold spell. Friday night is expected to bring scattered showers, some heavy with hail, and possibly wintry conditions on hills, with temperatures ranging from 1°C to 4°C. Saturday is anticipated to be windy with sunny intervals and widespread showers, including some wintry falls on hills, particularly in the north.

Conditions are forecasted to become drier on Saturday night with clearing skies and easing winds. However, cloud cover will increase from the west on Sunday afternoon, bringing widespread rain across the country, with temperatures ranging from 8°C to 11°C.

The predicted snowfall is not likely to cause significant disruptions to schools this time around, as it is expected late on Friday and into Saturday. Decisions regarding school closures are made at the local level, considering guidance from principal response agencies, especially An Garda Síochána, and taking into account factors such as the safety of children, students, staff, and school transport services in navigating local road conditions.
