Opinion polls show people have no ‘Hope’ in Irish government

Opinion polls show people have no hope in coalition government. The latest survey shows that 84 per cent of people believe the government will not be able to lead Ireland in the Covid-19 crisis.

88 percent of the 1,810 people surveyed openly said they did not trust Health Minister Stephen Donnelly.

The survey also found that the government’s credibility had been completely eroded in the wake of the latest scandal, the Living Cert Cock-up.

The people have given the ministers a complete failure certificate, according to a new survey. 87% believe that more could have been done to reduce mortality in nursing homes.

58% of people say the government is more reliant on the National Public Health Council. Eighty-four percent said the government did not have the power to face the next wave of Covid.

Four out of five say the new Living with Covid plan is not ideal. Eighty-one percent think HSE’s testing and tracking system is ineffective.

86% believe that government guidance on Covid is not clear and concise. Meanwhile, following the findings of the survey, Sinn Fein leader mocked the government.

Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou MacDonald says it is not surprising that people have lost confidence.

She said that families in Ireland are struggling on their own to keep their families and loved ones safe and this government is not doing anything to help them.

It’s been about seven months after the crisis, even simple steps like tracking and tracing are completely inadequate, she said.

Catherine Murphy, deputy leader of the Social Democrats, said some of the figures in the survey were “amazing” but did not disprove the findings about Minister Donalley.
