“Rare Weather Phenomenon: A Once-in-250-Year Event To Hit Ireland, Experts Say”

Dublin: Meteorologists are cautioning that Ireland may experience an unprecedented weather event this month. The Met Office has indicated that a rare phenomenon, occurring once every 250 years, may unfold in the coming weeks, bringing extreme winter conditions to the country.

Experts predict the possibility of three stratospheric warming events, a phenomenon known as triple SSW (Sudden Stratospheric Warming), which is highly unusual. Professor Adam Scaife, Head of Long Range Forecasting at MetEireann, highlighted the elevated likelihood of experiencing multiple SSW occurrences during this year’s El Niño winter.

Today’s forecast indicates predominantly cloudy conditions across the nation, with a yellow rain warning in effect for Cork and Kerry, as is customary. Widespread rainfall is anticipated throughout Ireland, accompanied by strong southwesterly winds originating from the west. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 11 to 13 degrees Celsius.
