Series on a Serious Gangster; Hansal Mehta to Direct the Political Thriller

Gangster Vivek Dubey’s life will be made into a political thriller web series by the renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Dubey was killed in an encounter by UP police last month.

The gangster was carrying a reward of Rs. Five lakhs on information. He was arrested from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on July 9 and was killed in an encounter on July 10.

The rights for the series have been brought by Producer Shailesh R Singh’s Karma Media and Entertainment, in association with Polaroid Media.

Hansal Mehta is known for films like Aligarh, Omerta and Shahid. He said that he will take up the subject seriously and will approach it in a responsible manner.

He said that “It is a reflection of our times and our system where politics, crime and lawmakers form a curious nexus. It is early to discuss approach but it will be approached responsibly and as a fascinating recounting. I see an edgy political thriller emerging out of this, and it will be very interesting to tell this story.”

The producer of the movie is also very much excited about the movie.

“I have been following the whole story quite closely through news agencies and other means, killing of eight policemen shook the nation and started the seven days trail of Vikas Dubey which finally saw him killed in an encounter. I thought why not tell this story to the entire nation and bring out some real facts and go to the inner depth of the great to tell this story.” Said the producer Shailesh R Singh.
