Taoiseach Simon Harris to Announce €36 Million Aid Package for Ukraine During Kyiv Visit

Dublin: Taoiseach Simon Harris is set to announce a €36 million aid package during his visit to Kyiv, aimed at supporting Ukraine and neighbouring countries. This funding will be directed toward essential humanitarian assistance, rehabilitation, and eventual reconstruction, with a focus on long-term goals such as peace and stability.

The new funding brings Ireland’s total contributions to Ukraine since February 2022 to over €380 million, including approximately €130 million in stabilisation and humanitarian aid. This year’s support prioritises responses to sexual and gender-based violence, maternity services, and the construction of prefab homes for displaced families.

Significant allocations include €5 million to the UN’s Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, €5.5 million to the UNHCR for winter aid, €3 million each to the UN Population Fund and the International Federation of the Red Cross, and €2 million to UNICEF for the reintegration of children abducted to Russia and Belarus. Additional funds will support the World Bank’s food security efforts, the IMF’s economic stabilisation work, and the construction of bomb shelters and school rebuilding in Ukraine.

Tánaiste Micheál Martin reaffirmed Ireland’s unwavering support for Ukraine, emphasising the country’s commitment to standing with the Ukrainian people.
