The march will “commemorate Savita”

A march will be held in Dublin to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Savita Halappanavar.

The march will take place on October 29th at 1 p.m., according to ROSA. (National Women’s Council of Ireland and the socialist feminist group).

The march will begin at the Garden of Remembrance and conclude at the Dáil.

According to ROSA, The march’s goal, according to the crew, is “to honour Savita and say never again!”

“ROSA proposes a march from the Garden of Remembrance to the Dáil at 1pm on Saturday, October 29th, 10 years after Savita Hallapanavar’s death.”

The march is being organised not just to “commemorate Savita,” but also to “restate what we pledged after her death-‘Never Again.'”

“The challenges that arose as a result of Savita’s death are still urgent.” “Repeal and the subsequent abortion law were fundamental victories, but legal and access constraints are leaving people behind.”

ROSA will also march for health, equality, and body autonomy.

Savita Halappanavar died in 2012, at the age of 31. While miscarrying, she developed sepsis but was denied an abortion. Doctors had rejected her abortion and warned her that Ireland was “a Catholic country.”

In the aftermath of Savita’s tragic death, an inquest was held in 2013. An 11-person jury unanimously determined that Savita died as a result of a medical error.

Following the abolition of the Eighth Amendment in 2018, Savita’s father, Andanappa Yalagi, stated that he “received justice” for his daughter. “We’ve obtained justice for Savita,” he told the Hindustan Times (Delhi). What happened to her will not happen to someone else.

He also expressed gratitude to the people of Ireland.
