Sunil Sivan of Tallaght is now the Peace Commissioner

Dublin: The Irish government’s regard for the Indian community. Sunil Sivan of Dublin-Tallaght, who is active in cultural, social, and political arenas, has been appointed Peace Commissioner by Justice Minister Simon Harris. He has been a permanent resident of Tallaght for 17 years and a member of the Fine Gael Party for about seven years. Sunil, the son of Sivan, a member of the Angamaly (Kerala) Alangaparampil family, is well known in the Irish Indian community.

Sunil Sivan’s jurisdiction is County Dublin and the counties adjacent to Dublin. The main responsibilities of the Peace Commissioner are to attest certificates and sign orders. Peace commissioners can also issue summons or warrants if necessary. The Peace Commissioner is also empowered to take action on complaints that food items sold in shops are adulterated or contain substances injurious to health. In Ireland, about a dozen Indians have already been appointed as Peace Commissioners.

Sunil’s wife is Jyoti Rashmi, a nurse at Our Lady’s Hospice in Dublin.
