COVID-19: Four deaths and 859 cases confirmed in Ireland

New 859 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Ireland today. Further four deaths have been reported by the health department.

The total number of cases in Ireland rose to 56,108. The death toll from COVID-19 in Ireland remains at 1,882.   

Of the cases confirmed today,

  • 415 are men and 441 are women
  • 62% are under 45 years of age
  • Median age is 35

The capital has recorded 192 new cases. Of the remaining cases, 148 are in Cork, 58 in Donegal, 55 in Galway, and 54 are in Meath, with the other 352 cases spread across the remaining 21 counties.

There are 315 COvid-19 patients in hospital, with 37 in ICU. An additional 16 hospitalisations have been made in the last 24 hours.

The current 14-day incidence rate nationwide is 302.9 per 100,000.

With the enforcement of Level 5 restrictions in the country, the number of COVID-19 cases reported daily has decreased slightly.
