Dublin Airport’s Plan to Increase Passenger Cap to 40 Million Faces New Planning Delay

Dublin: Dublin Airport’s plan to increase its passenger cap from 32 million to 40 million annually has encountered another delay. Fingal County Council has granted DAA an extension until November 14th to respond to a substantial request for additional information made in February. The extension was necessary due to the “complexity” of the request, according to DAA’s planning consultant, Aiden O’Neill.

A DAA spokesperson emphasised the need for thorough responses to the council’s queries, given the volume of information required. The decision on the application now depends on Fingal County Council and the Aircraft Noise Competent Authority (ANCA), with the possibility of further delays if the decision is appealed to An Bord Pleanála.

DAA is also working on an interim application to raise the passenger cap to 36 million, aiming to protect jobs and maintain connectivity while awaiting the final decision.
