Dublin City Council Expands Dublin Portal Network to Include Vilnius and Lublin

Dublin: Dublin City Council has announced the expansion of the Dublin Portal network to include Vilnius in Lithuania and Lublin in Poland. Initially established as a video link between Dublin and New York, the portal now allows people on North Earl Street in Dublin to connect with those in the two Eastern European cities. The livestream rotates every 180 seconds and is active daily from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, James Geoghegan, expressed delight at the expansion, noting that the portal has attracted over 340,000 visitors since its launch in May, revitalising North Earl Street. The Vilnius Portal is located near the city’s central station, while the Lublin Portal is situated in Litewski Square.

Lublin city representative Beata Stepaniuk-Kuśmierzak welcomed the addition of Dublin and New York to their portal network, highlighting the opportunity to share culture and collaborate on new projects. Benediktas Gylys, founder of portals.org, emphasised the project’s mission to create a global artwork that unites people from different cultures, calling the expansion a significant step towards fostering international connections.
