The stadium, packed with 80,000 spectators, witnessed a grand finale to the Paris Olympics, with 14 gold medals awarded on the final day. The closing ceremony featured star-studded performances by Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg as part of the handover to LA.
Tom Cruise’s Daring Stunt in Paris
Renowned for his high-octane stunts, Tom Cruise was widely expected to deliver a show-stopping performance for the ceremonial transfer of the Summer Games from Paris to Los Angeles. In his closing remarks, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach emphasised the need for a “culture of peace” amid global conflicts. “We know that the Olympic Games cannot create peace, but they can foster a culture of peace that can inspire the world,” Bach said. “Let us embody this culture of peace every day,” he urged.

The Olympic flame was ceremonially extinguished by Leon Marchand, France’s most decorated male Olympian of the Summer Games. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo officially passed the Olympic flag to her Los Angeles counterpart, Karen Bass, marking the transition to the next host city for the 2028 Olympics.
