In the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at the Guyana National Stadium, India defeated England by 68 runs. Chasing 172, England were bowled out for 103 in just 16.4 overs. Only Jos Buttler (23), Harry Brook (25), and Jofra Archer (21) managed to score significantly for England. For India, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel each took three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed two. Axar Patel was named Player of the Match.
India posted 171/7 in 20 overs after losing the toss, with Rohit Sharma hitting 57 off 39 balls and Suryakumar Yadav contributing 47 off 36. Hardik Pandya added a crucial 23 runs. For England, Chris Jordan took three wickets, and Reece Topley, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, and Adil Rashid each took one.
The match faced delays due to rain, with the toss occurring at 8:50 PM IST and play starting at 9:15 PM IST. Rain interrupted again, causing a restart at 11:10 PM IST, at which point India was 65/2 in 8 overs. India will now face South Africa in the final on June 29 in Barbados.
